word2x is avaialable as source code for Un*x and precompiled for some platforms. Mailing lists, an alternative download location and anoynmous CVS access is avialable at word2x on sourceforge.
The latest source code release is always avialable here by HTTP (due to a move to a bew host the FTP intustrions no longer work). A patch to update 0.004 to 0.005 is avialable. If you want to read microsoft binary formats and keep the code portable you will appreciate src2class (with the obligatory seperate pgp singature) free of alignment and endian issues, bar chars being byte aligned. The program is GPL with the special exception that their is no restriction on the use of the output (like bison).
Duncan will be using src2class to write code that understands word binary formats. The first target is the similar format used by write (as dsitributed with winblows 3.1).
This server is were libpt a small, library for using /dev/ptmx on linux is avialable here. glibc2.1 aka. libc 6.1 supports this device, so this library is becoming obselete.
